How to help after Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene is one of the deadliest storms to affect the United States. As floodwaters recede, many are grappling with the loss of loved ones, homes, possessions and a sense of stability.

If you’re wondering how to contribute to the recovery efforts, donating thoughtfully can make a significant difference.

Cash donations are often the most effective way to support disaster recovery. Relief organizations can use the funds to purchase supplies in bulk, address immediate needs and react quickly as situations change. These organizations are also deploying volunteers to help with on-the-ground relief efforts.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida as a Category 4 storm on Sept. 26. As the storm moved quickly across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee, it caused catastrophic flooding and numerous tornadoes, leaving a 500-mile path of destruction.

As of Oct. 3, the storm is responsible for at least 200 deaths while hundreds are still missing.
